Description

Incredible analogue sound from a digital source

Using one of our favourite turntables with our Masterpiece MP-P201 phono stage as a reference point, the creation of the SCD-025 Mk.II was all about creating the very best analogue sound from a digital source. Simply put, we wanted to create a more ‘musical’ CD player than anything else available on the market.

What has transpired from our painstaking research and development is a component that exceeds expectation. Much more than just a CD player, with USB, AES/EBU and S/PDIF inputs, the SCD-025 Mk.II can act as the digital source of truth in your setup.

Custom technology to meet strict requirements

We chose the Philips CD Pro 2 LF drive and stripped it back to its basic mechanical and electronic parts before rebuilding it to meet our requirements. This greatly reduces errors reading disc information and taking a burden off of the error correction system within the drive.

We use sample rate conversion to minimise jitter achieving a sample rate of 384kHz thanks to the Engineered Q8 sample rate converter module.

The analogue stage is taken directly from our amplifiers and special attention was paid to the PSU which is split into four separate supplies. One for the drive, one for the digital stage and two (left and right) for the analogue stage. This is immensely important in lowering the noise floor and producing our famed black backgrounds.

The SCD-025 Mk.II brings truly musical performance to the digital domain.

Finishing

The SCD-025 Mk.II comes in Jet Black or Warm Silver as standard. Titanium Orange, Dark Champagne and Titanium Grey are our most popular unique finishes.
