Spirit 8 – Imposing dynamics and accurate Vocals for inspiring home cinema
Spirit 8 is a perfect choice as a Centre Speaker in High Class Multichannel Setups. During the development, special attention was paid to vocal reproduction and an optimized dispersion pattern. Both factors are of fundamental importance for homogeneous and natural surround sound, as reproduction of the Human Voice is primarily projected via the Centre Channel. The optimization was done by adding a waveguide to the silk dome tweeter and by spending huge effort on the development of the high quality crossover. The customized drivers are unique spirit series and provide a matching acoustic balance and sonic signature throughout the Frequency range to highest dynamics and accuracy. Thus Spirit 8 is a key element for creating an immersive home cinema experience.
Drivers
The 25mm silk dome tweeter was customized for the Spirit-series and thus fits perfectly to the mid/bass drivers. Due to the waveguide technology, the dispersion pattern, as well as efficiency were optimized. The 6 1/2″ mid/bass drivers originate also from the XTZ development center and provide precision, even at highest SPL. These High Quality Drive Units contribute to the excellent vocal reproduction, due to their outstanding stiffness-weight ratio, which is achieved by using a c-cone-sandwich membrane, enabling the mid/bass drivers to maintain control, even when at High Excursion, providing punchy and accurate bass.
Sound Tuning
On the Rear Panel of the Spirit 8, there is a jumper, which allows adjustment of the tweeter output level to the prevailing room acoustics, or your personal preference. Furthermore, it is possible to close the bass reflex ports on the Rear Panel, with the attached plugs, which alter the Low Frequency characteristics of the speaker.
This enables placement of the speaker near a wall and drive it in sealed mode to compensate for the bass increase, due to the wall boundary effect.
Cabinet
The cabinet of the Spirit 8 is equipped with a 25mm front panel and 18mm side and rear panels, all made from MDF. Together with the additional internal bracing, this provides a very solid and inert cabinet construction, hence the high weight and the massive impression of the speaker. To further minimize the already reduced internal resonances, a large amount of internal damping material is also utilised. So the Spirit 8 plays the deepest bass frequencies, always with precision and composure.
Surface
The cabinets are painted with a perfectly finished multi-layer paint which make the speakers aesthetically appealing in a domestic environment.
In matt black as well as matt white, the Spirit 8 defines where the term “sound furniture”, originates from. The classic, yet modern construction contributes to the splendid aesthetics of this magnificent speaker.
Speaker Terminals
The gold plated screw terminals guarantee an optimum connection for your speaker cables. Thus a safe connection and best signal transmission can be ensured. In addition the terminal contains the jumper for the adjustment of the tweeter output level.
Front Grille
The detachable grille protects the drivers from dust and also from possible damage. To ensure perfect sound transmission, the grille is Acoustically Transparent and does not have any influence on the sound of the speaker.
