Spirit SUB 12 – Breathtaking, Accurate and Articulate Bass
Spirit SUB 12 was constructed as a powerful yet precise subwoofer with an excellent finish. Due to its very Rigid and lightweight 12″ membrane, it is capable to perform any impulse with maximum fidelity. The 400W amplifier ensures enough power at any time and is very efficient due to the special Class-D technology. But Spirit SUB 12 is not only a great choice for home cinemas. It also can be introduced seamlessly into a stereo setup, due to the articulate and precise bass capabilities. Obviously, the Spirit of the Spirit SUB 12 means it can also transform into a very Capable AV Subwoofer, with an impressive Dynamic Range and room shaking Deep Bass.
Since the subwoofer offers several room tuning possibilities, it can always be adjusted to the room acoustics or personal preferences.
Drivers
The 12″ long stroke driver which is used for Spirit SUB 12 originates from the XTZ development center and is optimized for a perfect stiffness-weight ratio. Due to the strong magnet system and the 400W amplifier, the subwoofer can perform large excursions with highest accuracy. Spirit SUB 12 achieves an even frequency response over its whole frequency range. The suspension spider is ventilated to avoid any compression effects at high volumes.
Sound Tuning
On the Rear Panel of the subwoofer there is a switch located which provides three different equalizer settings to adjust the sound of the Subwoofer. It is possible to increase the amount of “Thump in the Chest” type Bass, or to compensate for a placement near the wall by reducing the deep bass. This will be affected by the boundary effect of your listening room, seating position and personal preference. Furthermore Spirit SUB 12 is equipped with two unequal length bass reflex ports, which can be closed with the attached foam bungs, to further tailor the response characteristics of the subwoofer.
Cabinet
The Very Solidly Engineered and substantial sized cabinet of the Spirit SUB 12 is equipped with a 25mm thick front baffle made from MDF and at least 18mm thick side walls, which contribute strongly to the high weight of the Spirit SUB 12. Together with the additional internal bracing and huge amount of internal damping material, this provides a very rigid and inert cabinet construction and the resonances are reduced to an absolute minimum. Thus the drive unit can perform under ideal circumstances and play with highest precision, due to the low reverberation and rigidity of the cabinet.
Surface
Due to the available matt black and matte white high quality, perfectly finished multilayer paint, the Spirit SUB 12 integrates easily in every living area.
Despite its size the subwoofer, it appears to be a perfectly processed piece of furniture.
Speaker Terminals
The terminal on the Rear Panel offers connections via mono or stereo RCA cable. It also features a high-level input, which is helpful when the amplifier does not have a specific subwoofer output (usually in Stereo Systems). Furthermore it is possible to configure volume, phase and crossover frequency on the terminal. The adjustment knob for the choice of equalizer setting is also located here.
Front Grille
The detachable grille protects the driver from dust and also from possible damage. To ensure perfect sound transmission, the grille is Acoustically Transparent and does not have any influence on the sound of the speaker.
For the white subwoofer, a white cover is offered while the black version comes with a black cover.
